Adige valley in South Tyrol

Bolzano (chief town of province Alto Adige - South Tyrol, Italy), once city of merchants, is today also city of art, show, culture, exchange and vacation, thanks also to an infrastructure outbreak new: the airport, the Haydn auditorium.

Castles and folklore in a world of music, balls and theatre, culture and museums from the present to prehistoric times. The Iceman ("Ötzi", a man with a five thousand year past at the Archaeological Museum.

Bolzano, gateway to the Dolomites.

Palaces in baroque style. Gothic facades with the tyrolean "Erker". The rationalist architecture of Years Thirty. The "Portici", paradise of the shopping.
The green of the walks, the vineyards and the parks. The cafeterias with irresistibili cakies. The strudel and the canederli.
Bolzano is a city of encounter between two cultures, a meeting of Gothic and Mediterranean.

By day Bolzano offers healthy walks along pathways through the forests and across Alpine pastures.

In the spring Bolzano is packed with many events: the wine exhibition and tasting at Castle Mareccio, the Speck festival and the local streets market of flowers in the Walther Square, the vintage car rally, concerts, the Jazz festival and art exhibitions.

Summer has become the season most rich in events, initiatives and attractions. In Bolzano you can enjoy a varied programme of artistic and cultural attractions, nature, sport facilities, musical events and entertainment in general. During the day people still enjoy excursions towards the valley and high regions, to bathing lakes in the vicinity, then to return in the evening for a concert, a dance performance, to savour wines "beneath the stars" or a candlelight dinner in a castle.
