Saslong World Cup course
Super-G and Downhill will take place in Gardena-Gröden (South Tyrol, Italy) on December 19 - 20, 2008.

The Saslong World Cup course was modernized and adapted to the specifications of FIS, the International Ski Federation. This provides for more safety and increased visibility for the athletes and for better viewing by the audience at the finish area. It will also create additional alternatives when setting the course. A jump shortly before the finish area is in the processes of being finalized. With it, the Gardena-Gröden downhill will be one of the spectacular races in the World Cup.
The Organizing Committee began working on these improvements a few years ago in cooperation with the lift company. Starting with broadening the Sochers-Wall, then the Camel Humps, the Ciaslat Entry, the Finish Bridge and, finally, the Finish Schuss. Technical improvements on the slope are completed and will also benefit recreational skiers.
Preparations for this year’s races have kicked-off in October. A crew of 15 people have commenced maintenance work and mounted the large A-nettings under the leadership of course director Mr. Horst Demetz.
